Tallow has a long history of use in soaps, candles, and skin care. It is made by rendering animal fat, and beef tallow comes from cattle.

At Fat Cow Tallow, we bring that traditional ingredient into everyday skincare, using tallow from local Florida cows that are 100% grass fed and grass finished.

Tallow is rendered beef fat. In a balm, its rich texture helps soften and moisturize dry skin.

We pair our tallow with carefully chosen oils, butters, and botanicals. Ingredients vary by product, so check the individual product listing to find the right fit for your routine.

Our tallow balms can be used as moisturizers for the face and body, including dry areas such as hands, elbows, knees, and heels. A little goes a long way.

Use according to the product directions. These products are for skincare and are not intended to treat infections or medical conditions. Avoid contact with eyes.

Each product has its own place in your routine:

• Basic Balm: our original balm for everyday face and body moisture, with a naturally derived scent from lavender infusion.
• Charlie’s Balm: a richer, herb-infused balm named after the little boy who inspired Fat Cow Tallow.
• Emollient Balm: a rose-infused option for rich moisture and smoother-feeling skin.

Basic Balm and Charlie’s Balm come in 4 oz jars. Check the individual product listing for the size of the product you’re ordering, including CleanShade.

No added fragrance. No essential oils. Some products have a natural scent from the herbs infused into their ingredients.

Temperature changes during shipping can affect your balm’s texture. If it arrives very cold, let it return to room temperature. If it is too soft, place it in the refrigerator until it firms up.

If the texture still seems unusual, contact us and we’ll help.

Our balms are made without added fragrance or essential oils; botanicals may give them a natural scent. We recommend using the finished formula as supplied.

Adding essential oils changes the formula and may irritate sensitive skin. If you’re looking for a particular scent, get in touch and we can help you choose among our botanical-infused products.

Our recommended shelf life is 6–9 months. Store your balm in a cool, dark, dry place, and keep the lid closed between uses.

Check the ingredients for the specific balm you plan to use and ask your healthcare professional about suitability during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Botanical ingredients differ between products, so we don’t make a blanket safety promise for every person.

Review the ingredients and patch test a small area before wider use to check for sensitivities. For babies, or a child with eczema or another skin condition, ask their pediatrician which product and routine are appropriate.

Our balms have a rich texture, so start with a small amount and massage it into your skin. If it feels too heavy, try using less.

With clean, dry hands, take a small amount, warm it between your fingertips, and gently massage it into your skin. Add more only as needed.

We make our balms in small batches using naturally sourced ingredients. Slight differences in color, scent, and texture can occur, and temperature can affect firmness. Contact us if something seems unusual.

We currently ship within the United States only, with free USPS Priority Mail shipping on every US order. International orders may be requested from an individual product page, subject to shipping approval. Regular checkout is US only.

We’re based in North Port, Florida, USA, where we handmake our products in small batches.
